What is Face Photo Verification?
Face Photo Verification is an optional process that allows you to show that the photos on your profile resemble you. Once Face Photo Verification is successful, you'll receive a new badge on your profile, letting people know you've completed Face Photo Verification.
Face Photo Verification also lets you see whether other Blur profiles have completed Face Photo Verification. This way, you can make more informed decisions about who you interact with on Blur.
How does Face Photo Verification work?
Face Photo Verification is as simple as taking a selfie. If the person in your selfie passes both the Liveness Check and 3D Face Verification components of the process, you'll receive "Face Photo Verified" status.
Liveness Check detects the face in the photo and helps verify that the photo was taken by a real, live person and hasn't been digitally altered or manipulated. 3D Face Verification detects the face in your selfie and profile photos and uses the facial geometry data to generate a unique number or "template" of the face geometry.
Once Face Photo Verification is approved, the selfie itself is deleted and not added to your profile. However, we retain a screenshot of your selfie for auditing and managing this feature.
How is my Photo Verification Information used?
Facial geometry data is used only for Photo Verification purposes. The selfie itself is not stored and is deleted immediately after Photo Verification is completed. The screenshot we take of the selfie is used only for auditing and managing this feature.
What do you store after Photo Verification is completed?
Facial geometry data is processed in real time and stored only temporarily. It is automatically deleted immediately after the verification process is completed. If the verification process is not completed, the collected data is automatically deleted within 24 hours.
How do I delete my Photo Verification Information?
Your Photo Verification Information includes facial geometry data (i.e., the face 'template' used to complete the Photo Verification check) and a screenshot of the selfie. For information on how to delete this type of data, please see below.
Facial Geometry Data
You can delete facial geometry data by deleting your Blur account from the app's settings page.
Why do I need to delete my facial geometry data to delete it?
Blur's Photo Verified Badge is a great way to show potential matches that you truly look like the person in their photo. To help ensure users aren't misled or confused about whether their matches are still Photo Verified, we don't allow users to delete facial geometry data (thus disabling Photo Verification) without resetting their matches and starting over with a regular, non-Photo Verified account. This requirement is intended to prevent abuse of the Photo Verified Badge and to ensure other users have confidence that their matches will continue to have Photo Verified accounts.
Under what legal authority do you process Photo Verification information?
We process Photo Verification information with your consent.
How can I find more information about Blur's data practices, including my privacy rights?
